Truly great photographers have portfolios that are littered with images that say something, but more importantly, the portfolio as a whole says something.

Look at the dark, bleakness of much of Alex Majolis work, and of many of Magnums stable. Tom Ang may have work in a huge range of styles, but they (almost) all portray a life-affiming sense of discovery. Patrick Demarchelier shoots varied subjects in varied styles and yet always carries across a sense of slick, professional glamour.

What does my work say?

I'm going to spend some time looking at my deviations as though they were someone elses, and see if I can find what it is that makes my work mine.
